   [4] Gerulaitis’ second consecutive Wimbledon semifinal; unfortunately, in contrary to 1977 he had no chance against his famous compatriot. Admittedly the underdog had a set point at 5:4* (service winner), but he was struggling on the serve since the match inception, holding twice saving break points. It was [1] Connors’ twelth successive win over Gerulaitis. The match was actually played at the net constantly, Connors was sporadically staying on the baseline behind his second serves.
