  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 36-25, 34-23, 23-36, 33-22 ]
Points won directly behind the serve:
    21 % Nadal – 24 of 111
    18 % Murray – 22 of 121

Nadal [2] avenged a four-set semifinal defeat to Murray [4] on the same court (US Open ’08), but the revenge wasn’t so dramatic even though the match-time was very similar. Because of persistent rain they both played their third day-by-day match. Perhaps the fact Murray spent 1.5 hours more on the courts combining Thursday & Friday, contributed to the final outcome. The Scot had break points to lead in all sets he lost: 1 BP at 3:2 in the opener, 2 BPs at 1:0 in the 2nd set and 1 BP at 1-all in the 4th. In the 3rd set he broke for the first time leading 1:0, and got the crucial break at 4:3. Murray displayed all his best shots in the last set (a four-minute toilet break for the Scot before), however, it was enough to steal only two games from the defending champion… It was their third semifinal in a third consecutive Grand Slam event – Nadal won them all (3-0 in Paris, 3-1 in London).

    # Comparison of their three four-set Grand Slam semifinals:
    US Open ’08: Murray d. Nadal 6-2, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4… 3 hours 30 minutes… Total points: 149-126
    Wimbledon ’11: Nadal d. Murray 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, 6-4… 2 hours 59 minutes… Total points: 118-98
    US Open ’11: Nadal d. Murray 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2… 3 hours 24 minutes… Total points: 126-106
