  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 36-30, 24-12 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    19 % Henman – 10 of 51
    21 % Moya – 11 of 51

On paper an interesting meeting of two up-and-coming young players. Admittedly Henman [24] is two years older, but they were more or less at the same level in terms of development; Henman was playing his 39th main-level event, Moya [28], already an ATP titleist, his 37th. The conditions were tricky (gusty wind), break points in the first four games, and the Brit adjusted his style better. From 3-all onwards, he was actually playing whatever he wanted. “The first set was one of the ugliest sets of tennis I’ve played in a long time,″ Henman said, who played his first ATP final a week before (Doha). “It was a mental battle with the wind and I was a little nervous. It was a question of overcoming that.″

Henman’s route to his maiden title:
    1 Renzo Furlan 6-4, 6-4
    2 Sergi Bruguera 3-6, 6-3, 6-3
    Q Alex O’Brien 1-6, 7-6(3), 6-4
    S Goran Ivanisevic 4-6, 7-6(1), 6-1
    W Carlos Moya 6-3, 6-1

    # Henman was serving twice to stay in the match against O’Brien; against Ivanisevic he trailed 15/40 on serve at 4-all & 5-all in the 2nd set

    Serve & volley: Henman 14/17, Moya 0
