  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 30-17, 35-33 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    14 % Federer – 10 of 69
    23 % Del Potro – 11 of 46

A bit misleading scoreline: Del Potro [10] didn’t play a bad match, Federer [3] had to save a break point in the opening game, and break points in three games of the 2nd set. Two weeks later they face each other in the Dubai semifinal, and Federer wins after a much tighter encounter (7-6, 7-6). Federer waited seven years for his second title in the Netherlands: “It’s incredible that it took me seven years to come back and defend my title, I hope the next time is not so long. But if it is, then it means I’ll be playing for another seven years.” The following year he suffers a shocking quarterfinal defeat to Julien Benneteau.

Federer’s route to his 71st title:
    1 Nicolas Mahut 6-4, 6-4
    2 Mikhail Youzhny w/o
    Q Jarkko Nieminen 7-5, 7-6(2)
    S Nikolay Davydenko 4-6, 6-3, 6-4
    W Juan Martin del Potro 6-1, 6-4

    # Federer trailed *1:3 vs Davydenko in the 2nd set, he saved a triple mini-MP at 3:4 in the 3rd

Serve & volley: Federer 4/4, Del Potro 0
