  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 39-32, 35-22, 28-15 ]
Points won directly behind the serve:
    25 % Courier – 21 of 81
    17 % Korda – 16 of 90

Courier [1] defended his title ousting i.a. two future champions of the tournament (Muster, Agassi). He was a huge favorite in the final despite 1:1 in their H2H, but everything was quite open until 4th game of the 2nd set when Korda [8] leading 2:1, committed two straight double faults to lose 11 out of the last 12 games with another 4 double faults in the process and plenty of baseline errors. # On the same court, four years earlier Wilander beat Leconte in the French Open final after the same scoreline.

Courier’s route to his 9th title (2nd French Open):
    1 Nicklas Kroon 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-2
    2 Thomas Muster 6-1, 6-4, 6-4
    3 Alberto Mancini 6-4, 6-2, 6-0
    4 Andrei Medvedev 6-1, 6-4, 6-2
    Q Goran Ivanisevic 6-2, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5
    S Andre Agassi 6-3, 6-2, 6-2
    W Petr Korda 7-5, 6-2, 6-1

    # Comparison of two French Open finals with the same scorelines:
    1988: Wilander d. Leconte 7-5, 6-2, 6-1… 1 hour 52 minutes… Total points: 90-57 (breaks: 7-2)
    1992: Courier d. Korda 7-5, 6-2, 6-1… 1 hour 59 minutes… Total points: 102-69 (breaks: 7-2)
