  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 38-31, 37-32, 30-15 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    22 % Becker – 19 of 84
    16 % Chang – 16 of 99

[2] Becker’s second most impressive win on Centre Court at French Open, following his ’87 victory over Connors. As opposed to that match when Becker was glued to the baseline, he was very aggressive against Chang [10], attacking the net constantly, albeit not after the serve (just four serve-and-volley actions). Becker was attacking the net in two ways towards Chang’s backhand: either after a huge forehand long-line (alternatively inside-out), or after a backhand dropshot. The German was broken only when led 2:1 in the 3rd set. Decisive breaks in the preceding sets he obtained in games no. 7 and 5 respectively. Becker’s impressive victory against Chang, raises a hypothetical question: could he have been a French Open champion in 1989 if he had defeated Edberg in the semifinal (the Swede lost to Chang afterwards)? Another Becker-Chang match in the ‘best of five’ format in different conditions, also ends in straight sets (Masters ’95), this time Becker wins mainly to phenomenal serving.

    Serve & volley: Becker 3/4, Chang 0
