  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 26-34, 51-40, 46-40 ]
Points won directly behind the serve:
    30 % Tsonga – 37 of 120
    34 % Isner – 40 of 117

In the first few years of his career, Tsonga established himself as someone who usually wins tight sets, but somehow for a long time he couldn’t get a victory facing a match point… until that semifinal against Isner, in Tsonga’s main-level event no. 90. There was 6:5* for Isner [25] in the decider when Tsonga – inspired by the partisan crowd – fought off three advantage match points (Isner netted FH return off Tsonga’s 2nd serve 137 kph, FH winner, BH error). Before it happened, the Frenchman [8] had wasted a triple mini-match point at 4-all having the ball in play twice. # Tsonga took a perfect revenge for a loss to Isner in their first meeting two years before, the American prevailed in front of his home crowd in almost identical circumstances as the Frenchman in France (Tsonga led 6:5* “deuce” in the decider).

    # Comparison of their two similar matches:
    Washington 2009 (2R): Isner d. Tsonga 4-6, 7-6, 7-6… 2 hours 49 minutes… Total points: 110-111 (aces: 20-8)… Breaks: 0-1
    Paris 2011 (SF): Tsonga d. Isner 3-6, 7-6, 7-6… 2 hours 58 minutes… Total points: 123-114 (aces: 12-10)… Breaks: 0-1
