   Leconte could be perceived as a slight favourite despite much lower ranking cause he had won their two previous clay-court matches, including a dramatic semifinal on the same court two years before… Leconte [73] was coming back to his form in 1990 after very bad 1989 season when he missed six months because of an injury. Each of sets had the same score, the progress of 2nd set was the most interesting – Leconte had a game point to lead 4:0, but Becker [3] cut the lead to 3:4* (30/15). In the decider the Frenchman was the most willing to attack the net behind the serve, but this tactics didn’t succeed.

   Serve & volley: Becker 3/7, Leconte 8/14
