The 38-year-old Federer [7] reached a new milestone in his unbelievable career claiming his title No. 100! In the final he broke in the opening game of the match and at 4-all in the 2nd set, fought off both break points serving at the end of the 1st set after wasting a 40/0 lead. He played a perfect match, attacking the net very often, after all sorts of shots. “It’s been a long, wonderful journey… I have loved every minute,” Federer said on court after his victory. “It’s been tough but the sacrifice has been very, very worthwhile and we’ll see how much more I’ve got left in the tank. Reaching 100 is an absolute dream come true for me.” In their both previous meetings (both in 2019, Federer couldn’t break Tsitsipas in six sets (7-6, 7-6 Hopman Cup… 7-6, 6-7, 5-7, 6-7 Australian Open).
