After their Dubai final they were in the halfway, and Youzhny seemed to believe he would break the bad streak of matches against the best player of the decade. Federer didn’t serve well in the opener, lost his serve twice, but broke once more than the opponent, and found the service rhythm in the 2nd set. He squandered four mini-match points at 4:1, five match points at 5:2, but it didn’t affect him, and he easily served the match out.

   * His night session match vs Djokovic it was just their fourth meeting (4-0 then). In the 2nd set Federer wasted a double match point in the tie-break (having won 15 tie-breaks in a row!). He won the match anyway so the lost tie-break seemed harmless, however, Djokovic built some confidence upon it, winning a tight set against the Swiss for the first time; perhaps it helped him to win their another encounter in the Canadian Open final
