  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 34-27, 44-44, 31-21, 29-24 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    30 % Murray – 41 of 135
    12 % Ferrer – 15 of 119

Fifth and last major match between them, and a four-setter as always. The 34-year-old Ferrer played for the 17th and last time a Slam quarterfinal. In terms of the duration and total points won, almost a copy of their French Open meeting a year before. In the most interesting 2nd set, Ferrer [8] already led 4:1, only to save a double break point at 4-all. At 5:4 he squandered a set point, and Murray [2] came back from a 1:4 deficit again in the tie-break. At 5-all Ferrer played a high FH-volley winner, and converted his second set point thanks to Murray’s casual forehand error. The Scot broke to lead 3:1 in the 3rd set and it started to rain. After the resumption under the roof, in sterile conditions Murray imposed his superiority, and controlled the match in the last hour thoroughly.

    Serve & volley: Murray 2/3, Ferrer 2/2
