  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 41-40, 28-17, 40-30, 29-21 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    45 % Sampras – 53 of 116
    37 % Becker – 49 of 130

After 2 hours 29 minutes Sampras [1] wins Wimbledon for the third straight time, [4] Becker’s last Wimbledon final (ten years after his sensational triumph). In the opening set Becker had problems only in one service game, so that what happened afterwards was quite shocking – Sampras forced him to save break points in seven games to get broken in five. In the entire final Sampras played ‘deuce’ in his service games only twice – on both occasions winning the next two points directly with serves. “I just started to connect on my returns,” Sampras said, “and my serve didn’t let me down, and I could tell he was more tired, and put it all together and I felt pretty great about my game out there.”

Sampras’ route to his 34th title:
    1 Karsten Braasch 7-6(5), 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-1
    2 Tim Henman 6-2, 6-3, 7-6(3)
    3 Jared Palmer 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2
    4 Greg Rusedski 6-4, 6-3, 7-5
    Q Shuzo Matsuoka 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4, 6-2
    S Goran Ivanisevic 7-6(7), 4-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3
    W Boris Becker 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4, 6-2
