    It was quite strange decision of the officials to set this match on Centre Court while on two other main courts Borg and J.McEnroe were playing their matches. Kodes, the former Wimbledon champion, had big problems to win matches in the early 80s which forced him to retire in 1983. Pecci [17] won it easily demonstrating much powerful tennis, adequate to the 80s while Kodes looked like someone who stuck in the mid 70s. For the 34-year-old Czechoslovak it was the last match on Centre Court of main events, he’ll play only two more majors (he never played at Aussie Open – the even got more recognition at the time he finished his career).
