  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 20-26, 32-27, 32-36, 26-12, 27-10 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    42 % Querrey – 49 of 116
    25 % Murray – 33 of 132

This match meant the end of great career of 30-year-old Murray at the very top of the game. The Brit was a defending champion and the best player in the world then. In retrospect we know that an injury (hip) made a huge impact on the last two sets (Murray didn’t play another match in 2017). All credit to Querrey [28] though, because in the 2nd set he lost his serve at 3-all, only to get another three games and the connecting set, so it’s quite easy to imagine he could have lost it in straights. In the last two sets that lasted as long as the 3rd set, he fired 13 aces (3 in the last game) against the limping Murray. He didn’t play another major quarterfinal despite 7 more years in the professional circuit.

    Serve & volley: Querrey 1/1, Murray 0
