  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 27-17, 29-19 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    30 % Murray – 15 of 49
    11 % Youzhny – 5 of 43

Two years after their first meeting in St. Petersburg which Murray [4] barely survived, he had no problems (already led *5:1 after 20 minutes) to outplay the Russian [23] in that final of Valencia Open, its first edition in a new, quite futuristic venue (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias). The tournament held since 2003, in 2009 was moved from clay outdoors to hard indoors. In the 2nd set there was very untypical rally which Youzhny won lobbing Murray with an overhead (trailing 0:3*). “I expected a difficult match,” said 22-year-old Murray. “He played very well but I served well and played intelligently. It was a very, very good week. It is very rare for someone to win a tournament after a long break. I was happy I have come back from the injury well and played better with every match.” Because of the injury suffered at the US Open, Murray skipped the Asia Tour.

Murray’s route to his 14th title:
    1 Daniel Gimeno 6-3, 6-1
    2 Leonardo Mayer 6-4, 3-6, 6-3
    Q Albert Montanes 6-4, 6-2
    S Fernando Verdasco 6-3, 2-6, 6-3
    W Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-2
