Edberg led *4:2 (30/0) in the 4th set, then squandered four match points at 5:4* and the match was suspended at 2:1* for him in the decider due to rain. After the resumption the next day, Lendl wasted three game points to lead 5:3, at 4-all Edberg fought off a mini-match point with a service winner. There was 3-all in the decisive tie-break when the Swede took the final four points… The match lasted 4 hours 3 minutes. Lendl spent nine hours (!) on the court within two rounds following his marathon vs Becker.
