   McEnroe facing a break point at 3-all in the 3rd set, served 3 consecutive aces. He led *5:2 in the tie-break when Lendl won a point after a volley-volley exchange. At 6-all in the tie-break, during the change of ends, McEnroe almost started a fight against a cameraman, who thought the match was over and stepped onto the court… McEnroe’s first defeat at the US Open after 25 wins in a row! It was his last major event played with a wooden racquet… He was beaten by Lendl six straight times then, Lendl won also their another encounter – New York (Masters) in 1983.
