  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 33-23, 44-36, 39-47, 30-16 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    16 % Djokovic – 21 of 127
    15 % Nadal – 22 of 141

Second consecutive major final between them, also second in a row in New York (Nadal won in four sets in 2010). The match lasted 4 hours 10 minutes – crazy long given the scoreline. The 4th game of the 2nd set lasted 16 minutes, Djokovic [1] broke back despite Nadal’s three game points. The Spaniard led 2:0 in each of the first two sets. In the 3rd set Djokovic led three times with a break, including 6:5 (30-all) so he was two points away from a straight sets victory. The Serb looked very tired, I was thinking he could tank the 4th set meanwhile the 3rd set cost Nadal [2] too much energy. Extended description.

Djokovic’s route to his 28th title:
    1 Conor Niland 6-0, 5-1 ret.
    2 Carlos Berlocq 6-0, 6-0, 6-1
    3 Nikolay Davydenko 6-3, 6-4, 6-2
    4 Alexandr Dolgopolov 7-6(14), 6-4, 6-2
    Q Janko Tipsarevic 7-6(2), 6-7(3), 6-0, 3-0 ret.
    S Roger Federer 6-7(7), 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 – 2 m.p.
    W Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-1

Djokovic broke 11, not 12 times as written on the ATP website (he didn’t convert in one game when created a chance, it happened as he led 4:2 in the 2nd set)
