  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 29-22, 33-22, 46-46, 43-36 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    43 % Sampras – 66 of 152
    23 % Agassi – 29 of 125

Sampras served 12 aces in his first five service games! In the 4th set, he held for 2-all after 7 deuces (saved two break points) & for 4-all after 3 deuces (one break point). Agassi had won the 3rd set despite Sampras’ five games points to force a tie-break. Sampras finished the event with a backhand volley winner and it was the last point he played in his professional career. # Just like in their US Open ’95 final, they played 41 games, in both finals Sampras broke four times, Agassi twice; Agassi won the 3rd set on both occasions, and the 4th set was the toughest for the eventual champion among three he captured… Sampras finished his career with a fantastic record in Grand Slam finals: 14-4 (77%)

Sampras’ route to his 64th & last title:
    1 Albert Portas 6-1, 6-4, 6-4
    2 Kristian Pless 6-3, 7-5, 6-4
    3 Greg Rusedski 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-4
    4 Tommy Haas 7-5, 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-5
    Q Andy Roddick 6-3, 6-2, 6-4
    S Sjeng Schalken 7-6(6), 7-6(4), 6-2
    W Andre Agassi 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4

    # Comparison of their two US Open finals concluded in 4 sets:
    1995: Sampras d. Agassi 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5… 2 hours 28 minutes… Total points: 124-112 (aces: 24-8)…
    2002: Sampras d. Agassi 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4… 2 hours 52 minutes… Total points: 151-126 (aces: 33-7)…
