   Hewitt had led 4-1 vs Kafelnikov in their H2H, but no-one could expect such a one-sided encounter. The Australian [4] completely dominated the flat baseline rallies, the Russian [7] couldn’t hit a winner off his usually stronger backhand side, he tried to attack the net a couple of times, but almost every time was passed. Similar disappointment at this stage of the event will occur 14 years later #
