  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 35-44, 34-27, 37-36 ]
    Points won directly on serve:
    27 % Berdych – 30 of 109
    41 % Roddick – 43 of 104

    # Berdych [27] has defated all the best players born in the 80s after dramatic ‘best of three’ matches (Federer even twice), being close to defeat in straight sets or in the deciding set – his win over Roddick [8] combined both possibilities, also the only match among those thrillers in which he gathered fewer points. Berdych was as many as five times one game away from defeat, for the first time at *4:5 (0/15) in the 2nd set when he played BH dropshot winner, something unusual in his repertoire. In the decider he trailed *2:5 (30-all) and *5:6 (30-all); in both situations he needed his second serve, first Roddick netted the return, then Berdych played a backhand cross-court winner – Roddick dived on the baseline in vain. In the deciding tie-break, the Czech played above his standards producing three different winners off the backhand side from 2:1 to 5:1 (volley, slice, passing-shot). Both tie-breaks were concluded 7/3.
