  1. Voo de Mar says:
Stats of the last two sets only, number of aces/double faults/break points valid for the entire contest

    Points won by each set: | 31-36, 35-22, 37-31 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    20 % Kuerten – 11 of 54
    18 % Kucera – 13 of 71

After sensational triumph at the French Open ’97, Kuerten [26] waited more than a year to finally win his another title. Kucera [16] was in better form that year, and he led 4:2* (15/0) in the 3rd set when Guga’s backhand clipped the line. Initially the linesman called the ball ‘out’, but the chair umpire changed that decision and it turned the tables, the Brazilian took the last four games not being closer than seven points from defeat. Kuerten finished his H2H vs Kucera at 3:2 winning all three matches when he found himself within two games away from defeat.

Kuerten’s route to his 2nd title:
    2 Fernando Meligeni 7-6(5), 6-4
    3 Carlos Costa 6-2, 6-4
    Q Albert Costa 7-5, 6-0
    S Carlos Moya 7-6(6), 6-4
    W Karol Kucera 4-6, 6-2, 6-4
