Points won by each set: [ 26-30, 39-39, 34-29 ]

41 % Lopez – 38 of 92
I’d say that with this title the Pouille’s [16] development has been stopped. At the time he looked like a contender to become a Top 10 player soon, he had won three titles on three different surfaces + two Grand Slam quarterfinals, moreover he possessed a great ratio in tight matches (in Stuttgart he saved a miracle match point in his opener) & tie-breaks. Shortly after the Stuttgart title he experienced a tie-break slump & has been struggling in tie-breaks since then. In the 2nd set vs Lopez [33], the Frenchman saved four break points in total, two at 1-all & two at 2-all, everything with good serves (an ace off 2nd serve included). He also finished the contest with an ace, on his third match point. 29 aces (7-12-10) it’s his personal record… # Two years later they play on the same court again, but already in the first round & Pouille survives a tight match too.
Pouille’s route to his 3rd title:
2 Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(8) – 1 m.p.
Q Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-4, 2-6, 6-3
S Benoit Paire 7-6(5), 7-5
W Feliciano Lopez 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4
Serve & volley: Pouille 5/7, Lopez 7/9
