Youzhny led 4:2* in the 2nd set. At 4:3 (15/0) he was involved in a very demanding rally running all over the place and it cost him a lot of energy – lost quickly four straight games since then. In the decider Lopez led 5:2*, but committed two double faults serving to win the match, in the following game he broke the Russian to 30 converting his first match point.
The 33-year-old Lopez reaches his career-high (No. 14) thanks to victory… two years ago he was ranked 15.
Both guys have played the most main-level tournaments among active players (not counting semi-retired Nikolay Davydenko): Youzhny – 333, Lopez – 322
