  1. Voo de Mar says:
Stats without the last two games of the 2nd set & entire 3rd set, so 37 out of 49 games included (75%).
Number of aces & break points valid. Double faults: 7 – Leconte, 2 – Kulti.

The 29-year-old Leconte [200] enjoyed a magic run on his beloved Parisian courts reaching the semifinals for the third time (1986, 1988, 1992). In the quarterfinal he quickly jumped to a 3:0* (30-all) lead, then squandered two set points (at 6:5 on return & 6:5 on serve in the tie-break to lose it 8/10). In the 5th set Kulti came back from a break down twice, but lost his serve again trailing 3:4 & Leconte finished the 3-hour 37-minute contest with a service winner. The Frenchman improved his 5-set record in Paris to 7-0, but it was his last match won at Roland Garros (even the last sets, because he will lose the semifinal in straight sets, as well as his another three matches in years 1993-1996; didn’t play ’95). The 21-year-old Swede [94] competed his first Grand Slam quarterfinal, and the last one. In the following eight years of his career, he won’t even reach the round of 16… Both Leconte & Kulti, will play their farewell Grand Slam matches losing to Thomas Johansson (in 1996 & 2000 respectively)…
