    Points won by each set: [ 31-18, 22-28, 28-33, 40-39, 42-30 ]
Points won directly behind the serve:
    8 % Chang – 15 of 173
    20 % Edberg – 28 of 134

Average 1st serve speed: Edberg 97 mph (156 kph), Chang 77 mph (123 kph)
Edberg went to the net 156 times, Chang 49.
In the 4th set, Edberg wasted 10 break points in three different games, including a mini-match point at 4-all (volley error). The 17-year-old Chang became the youngest Grand Slam champion of the Open Era, but never won a major title again! He served only 6 aces… & 9 double faults in 7 matches that year in Paris.

Chang’s route to his 2nd title:
    1 Eduardo Masso 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-0, 6-3
    2 Pete Sampras 6-1, 6-1, 6-1
    3 Francesco Roig 6-0, 7-5, 6-3
    4 Ivan Lendl 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3
    Q Ronald Agenor 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(6)
    S Andrei Chesnokov 6-1, 5-7, 7-6(4), 6-4
    W Stefan Edberg 6-1, 3-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2

Interesting note: I have read that Chang took 21 hours and 18 minutes to win the 1989 French championship! Against Edberg (final): 3 hours 41 minutes, vs. Chesnokov (semis): 4:05 h, vs. Agenor (quarters): 3:10 h, vs. Lendl (the famous 4th round…): 4:38 h, vs. Sampras (2nd round): 1:38 h. I am only missing the match times for 1st round against Masso and 3rd round vs. Roig…
