   Cilic [23] had a clear plan to play this match very aggressively; even though he won the first set rather easily, he mad a few catastrophic overhead errors, and he did the same in the 2nd set in which Ruud [8] was already more stable with his ground-strokes – nevertheless – who knows what would have happened if the Croat had converted his 40/0 lead when the Norwegian was serving to win the set. The 3rd set was interrupted at *4:1 (15-all) by a female environmental activist who unexpectedly entered the court and tied herself to the net wearing a shirt with the slogan “We have 1028 days left”. After a ~10-minute delay Cilic won two points in a row which gave him a double break point, but he couldn’t capitalize and he fell apart afterwards. Ruud hit just two volleys in the almost 3-hour match! His 9 out of 16 aces he served on deuce-court inside-out.
