  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 35-32, 48-44, 19-29, 26-13 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    9 % Fucsovics – 12 of 131
    15 % Medvedev – 18 of 115

3 hours 17 minutes on Suzanne Lenglen in very heavy conditions (raining all day), and the biggest upset of the first round in Paris ’20. Admittedly Medvedev [5] hadn’t won a match in Paris in his three previous trips to Roland Garros, but he’s been a new player for the past 14 months. Fucsovics [63] on the other hand, hadn’t defeated a Top 10 player in 14 meetings (but this year he stunned Shapovalov at Australian Open and Dimitrov at US Open). The Hungarian applied good strategy of being involved in longer rallies and mixing the pace with attacking the net & dropshots. When he won the 1st set from *3:4, the Russian became very nervous. There was a dogfight in the 2nd set (six breaks, Medvedev led 6:5* (30-all) when Fucsovics played a very nice BH volley), and at 5:3* in the tie-break Fucsovics played a great point in defence forcing Medvedev’s error. The Russian smashed his racket; since he had already received a warning, he was given a point penalty which meant the end of the set. Medvedev changed his entire costume between sets 2 and 3, it helped him to play better in the 3rd set, but in the 4th he played very poorly (still without a 5-set win).
