Points won by each set: | 38-39, 51-45, 27-33, 27-13 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
23 % Nadal – 34 of 147
23 % Federer – 29 of 126
The final shortly interrupted by rain with Nadal [1] serving at 5:4 (deuce) in the 2nd set. Federer [3] began the match better than anyone could’ve expected. He led 3:0* (30-all) when his potential forehand winner missed the baseline by a few centimetres. Also a few centimetres separated him from winning the opening set 6-2 when his BH dropshot could have been a winner. Generally speaking Federer was playing more dropshots than usually. In the 2nd set the Swiss was three points away from the set leading 6:5* (15/0), he came back from 2:4* in the 3rd set serving to stay in the match at 4:5… Their fourth and last final against each other in Paris (within six years). Nadal said: “It’s a big personal satisfaction to win this tournament, especially when you started without playing your best. My mind was open to change the situation, so that makes the victory probably more special. So in general, [I am] very, very happy for everything.”
Nadal’s route to his 46th title:
1 John Isner 6-4, 6-7(2), 6-7(2), 6-2, 6-4
2 Pablo Andujar 7-5, 6-3, 7-6(4)

S Andy Murray 6-4, 7-5, 6-4
