  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 50-49, 38-35 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    24 % Nadal – 20 of 82
    26 % Djokovic – 26 of 90

Their 12th meeting (first final on grass) and only for the first time in their extraordinary rivalry it was balanced from start to finish. Djokovic [3] led 3:0* (adv.) in the opener when Nadal [1] hit a forehand winner. The Spaniard also saved a set point at 5:6* in the tie-break with a forehand winner. The temperature of the final was different in the 2nd set – Djokovic was emotionally retreated, yet good enough to come back twice from difficulty in relaxing mode (0:2* and 3:4, 15/40) to serve for one set apiece. He led 5:4 (30-all) after a spectacular point at the net, then he lost one of the longest rallies of the match (Nadal survived with a defensive lob)… It was a time when Nadal displayed an unbelievable form winning back to back titles on three different surfaces, including the biggest ones: clay (Roland Garros), grass (Wimbledon) and hard (Olympics) which helped him to dethrone Federer after the Swiss had occupied the top for more than four years.

Nadal’s route to his 28th title:
    2 Jonas Bjorkman 6-2, 6-2
    3 Kei Nishikori 6-4, 3-6, 6-3
    Q Ivo Karlovic 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 7-6(4)
    S Andy Roddick 7-5, 6-4
    W Novak Djokovic 7-6(6), 7-5

    # Nadal three points away from losing sets 2 & 3 to Karlovic
