  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 46-47, 26-31, 29-33, 33-25, 32-26 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    33 % Forget – 55 of 165
    31 % Sampras – 51 of 163

The time-duration: 3 hours 43 minutes. Only twice in 1991 occurred that a player served at least 30 aces (Forget struck 8, 6, 6, 5, 5 respectively in sets).
The 26-year-old Frenchman was considered as the best server at the time. He saved two set points in the 1st set tie-break (at 6:7 & 7:8*) and won it 11/9. He also saved a mini-match point at 4-all in the 4th set after the longest rally of the match (he passed Sampras with backhand in 21st stroke). Forget earned $270,000 for the biggest victory in his career as far as singles career is concerned. “It was a very unusual match, especially for a final,” said Forget, “There were moments when we went down and then up again. I don’t know if I will play again in these conditions, but I have done it once.

    Forget’s route to his 9th title (2nd Masters 1K):
    2 Patrick McEnroe 6-3, 6-2
    3 Derrick Rostagno 4-6, 6-3, 6-1
    Q Omar Camporese 6-1, 3-6, 6-3
    S Jonas Svensson 7-5, 6-4
    W Pete Sampras 7-6(9), 4-6, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4
