Medvedev’s back-to-back final after losing to Kyrgios 6-7, 6-7 in Washington. The 23-year-old Russian [9] won the opening 24-stroke rally, created a break point, and actually since then it was a one-way traffic. Nadal [2] defends the title triumphing for the fifth time at the Canadian Open (2005, 2008, 2013, 2018-19). “He played a great (first) game, some very long rallies. For me, personally, it was important to start the match in good shape. He came to that match playing so well, playing a lot of matches [in recent] weeks. For me, it was a different story. I only played three matches on hard before this one,” said Nadal, who withdrew from another big event – Cincinnati.
