Points won directly behind the serve:
    51 % Becker – 49 of 96
    28 % Chang – 30 of 104

Chang led 5:2* in the opening set, 5:4 (30/15)… 15 of 25 aces Becker served in the 3rd set, the last one on championship point. “It has always been an atmosphere like a public festival,” Becker said earlier this week of the Festhalle. “I really think it is a shame because this was a perfect indoor tournament.” “I have never seen anybody serve quite that effectively,” Chang said…. After the final they both had the best indoor records considering the 1995 year: 27-6 Becker (.818)… 25-7 Chang (.781). Two months later they face each other in the Aussie Open final.

Becker’s route to his 44th title:
    rr Wayne Ferreira 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(5)
    rr Pete Sampras 2-6, 6-7(3)
    rr Yevgeny Kafelnikov 6-4, 7-5
    S Thomas Enqvist 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-5
    W Michael Chang 7-6(3), 6-0, 7-6(5)

Becker was five points away from being eliminated from the event in a match he had no impact on.
