Points won directly behind the serve:
    51 % Becker – 49 of 96
    28 % Chang – 30 of 104

After a sensational win over Sampras which prevented a repetition of the highly anticipated Masters 1994 final, Chang began the Sunday encounter full of confidence, and led 5:2* in the opening set, then 5:4 (30/15)… 15 of 25 aces Becker served in the 3rd set, the last one on championship point. “It has always been an atmosphere like a public festival,” Becker said earlier that week of the Festhalle. “I really think it is a shame because this was a perfect indoor tournament.” – referring to the fact Ion Tiriac moved the event from Frankfurt to Hannover. “I have never seen anybody serve quite that effectively,” Chang said…. After the final they both had the best indoor records considering the 1995 year: 27-6 Becker (.818)… 25-7 Chang (.781). Two months later they face each other in the Aussie Open final, and the German wins again easier than expected.

Becker’s route to his 44th title:
    rr Wayne Ferreira 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(5)
    rr Pete Sampras 2-6, 6-7(3)
    rr Yevgeny Kafelnikov 6-4, 7-5
    S Thomas Enqvist 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-5
    W Michael Chang 7-6(3), 6-0, 7-6(5)

Becker was five points away from being eliminated from the event in a match he had no impact on.
