I don’t need some person to tell me what they think.” In the final there was the only bagel set in 36 meetings between McEnroe & Lendl, Big Mac won eleven games in a row (from *4:5 in 1st to 2:0* in 3rd), but in the bagel set the point-difference was the lowest possible for such a set (12). # It was the third (and last) ‘Masters’ final between these two great champions.

   W Ivan Lendl 7-5, 6-0, 6-4

   McEnroe began his Masters ’84 campaign with a 2-6, *0:3 deficit against Jarryd (had similar problems against the Swede a few weeks earlier in Stockholm…. 1-6, 7-6, 6-2), losing seven games in a row and facing a break point to lose the eighth! In the meantime, at one of his serves he lost the head of his racquet (it’d already been damaged) and only a grip left in his hand 🙂
