  1. Voo de Mar says:
Federer became the first man to win the Year End Championships six times (Ivan Lendl and Pete Sampras did it five times).
The Swiss had plenty of opportunities to finish the final in straight sets: in the 2nd set he led 4:2* (40/30), 5:3, had a break point at 5-all, led 5:2* in the tie-break and finally Tsonga fought off a match point with a forehand winner. It was 11th match Federer won despite losing an MP-up set. I’ve included to the picture scorelines of all his main-level matches when he lost sets having match points (the statistic prepared after Toronto 2014).

    Points won by each set: | 28-25, 45-45, 32-21 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    38 % Federer – 38 of 98
    33 % Tsonga – 33 of 98

    Match on YouTube
Federer and Tsonga created the first pair of players to face each other eight times within a year.

    Federer’s route to the title:
    rr Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-2, 2-6, 6-4
    rr Rafael Nadal 6-3, 6-0
    rr Mardy Fish 6-1, 3-6, 6-3
    S David Ferrer 7-5, 6-3
    W Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-3
