   Bjorkman [86] applied serve-and-volley tactics throughout, Federer [6] presented himself in an offensive mood as well, he actually displayed full array of shots. There was a vibe in that final of awesome things to come for the 22-year old Federer… The Swiss broke twice in the opening set, but the second break he got after a 9-deuce game. In the 2nd set, the 31-year-old Swede led 3:0* (30/0). In the tie-break Federer wasted a 5:1 & *6:4 lead, but converted his third match point as Bjorkman netted a forehand approaching the net. “To me, it’s a dream to win here,” said Federer. “I was given a wild card here in 1999 and I beat Carlos Moya while being 300th in the world. In 2000, I lost the final in the third set tie-break against Marc Rosset, so I was very nervous today. I’m very happy to win this at last.”
