Points won by each set: | 38-35, 33-32, 32-22 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
23 % Murray – 21 of 91
12 % Wawrinka – 13 of 101
Murray began his breakthrough ’08 season in a great style. At the time it was his biggest title. “Stan played pretty good and made me do a lot of running. I don’t know how much longer I could have run for. I did a lot of running and I am going to be stiff tomorrow, but I am really happy that I came through.” said the 20-year-old Scot [11] after the 2-hour 28-minute final.
Who could think then that each of them would have two Grand Slam titles under his belt seven years later? Prior to 2008 the 22-year-old Wawrinka [36] could be considered as a dangerous floater for whom winning a Masters 1K event would be awesome while Murray was recognized as a great talent, however, his fitness aroused suspicions. Ten months later Murray will become a member of the long lasting Big 4 club…
Murray’s route to his 4th title:
1 Olivier Rochus 6-0, 6-2
2 Rainer Schuettler 1-6, 6-0, 6-1
Q Thomas Johansson 7-6(4), 6-0
S Nikolay Davydenko 6-4, 6-3
W Stanislas Wawrinka 6-4, 4-6, 6-2
It’s the last stats-picture of 2015. If I counted well, between December ’13 & December ’15, I’ve made more or less 680 stats-pictures.
Happy New Year! 🙂
