Between the beginning of 1984 and the French Open that year, the best players had big problem to even get five games in a set vs McEnroe! On a fast surface in Dallas, in nine sets McEnroe dropped four games only against the best server at the time – Curren! His service performance in the final was astonishing, totally effortless holding (saved break points serving to win the first tow sets) allowed him to make fun as a receiver improvising a lot. # The first of their three meetings of ’84 when McEnroe destroyed Connors in the “best of five” format.
