  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 44-41, 21-30, 27-10 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    26 % Wawrinka – 24 of 90
    15 % Malisse – 13 of 83

Wawrinka [21] trailed *2:4 (15/30) in the 1st set of that 2-hour 13-minute Indian final. It was just third title in career of the 26-year-old Swiss. Who could suspect then that he would become a two-time Grand Slam champion? “Of course I am happy to start the year well and win after losing in the final last year,” Wawrinka said. “I had a good match against Berdych and again today. I have played better as the tournament went on and this will give me confidence for the Australian Open.” He reached the quarter-finals in Melbourne where he was beaten by Federer, having 9-match winning streak – his best at the time… Twelfth & last final in Malisse’s career (record: 3-9), who was 31-year-old then, ranked No. 60. Wawrinka will win in Chennai also in years 2014-15.

Wawrinka’s route to his 2nd title:
    1 Rohan Bopanna 6-4, 6-4
    2 David Goffin 7-6(3), 7-6(3)
    Q Robin Haase 3-6, 6-3, 6-3
    S Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-1
    W Xavier Malisse 7-5, 4-6, 6-1
