   Their first meeting and [3] Nadal’s comeback to his beloved surface – after winning his first Roland Garros he notched two unsuccessful grass court events. Berdych [42] stunned the Swedish crowd with powerful play and overwhelmed the heavy favorite in the opener. The Czech fired 10 FH winners, but after the first 30 minutes he couldn’t keep the same pace. In the first game of the decider he led 40/15 when a rally occurred with Nadal’s three successive strokes landing on the lines (two baselines, then sideline after a dropshot). Berdych lost his serve, made a ribreak straight away and lost his serve again. Nadal serving at 5:4 faced a break point, but managed to win three points in a row rather easily.
