  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 30-23, 34-29 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    16 % Nadal – 9 of 53
    19 % Canas – 12 of 63

Canas [28] was in a form of his life at the time (had defeated Federer twice in his previous two events), but Nadal [2] proved to be too strong for the Argentinian. The Spaniard obtained breaks at 3:2 and 3-all in respective sets before converting his fourth match point. The victory extended his record winning streak on the surface to 72 matches. “To win another final, in Barcelona, at home here, it’s a great feeling,” Nadal said. “The first time I won it was like a dream, so what can I say, to win it for a third time, to win my 20th title here, it is an amazing feeling.”

Nadal’s route to his 20th title:
    2 Kristof Vliegen 6-1, 6-2
    3 Thomas Johansson 6-1, 6-4
    Q Potito Starace 6-2, 7-5
    S David Ferrer 7-5, 6-1
    W Guillermo Canas 6-3, 6-4
