  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 34-30, 32-26, 31-17 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    14 % Nadal – 12 of 85
    8 % Robredo – 7 of 85

A boring final between two Spaniards, and former doubles partners: defending champion (Nadal) and the 2004 champion (Robredo). One of many finals to confirm Nadal’s clay-court superiority over everyone. The 20-year-old Mallorcan [2] trailed *3:4 in the 2nd set when obtained nine straight games, and basically turned Robredo [15] into his weeping-boy. The last game of the 2nd set was crucial: Nadal led 40/15, but Robredo created a break point with three forehand winners in a row, then Nadal forced a backhand error… Nadal’s 47th consecutive clay-court win – he overcame the best clay-court streak of Bjorn Borg. “I’ve achieved my main objective here, and I’ve overtaken Borg’s number of wins and I guess I could try to go for Vilas’ total in Rome,” Nadal said. “But I have my sights set on Roland Garros. You can’t compare me to Borg, he was the greatest tennis player of all time. I can’t see myself winning five Wimbledons.”

Nadal’s route to his 15th title:
    2 Feliciano Lopez 6-4, 6-2
    3 Ivan Navarro 6-4, 6-2
    Q Jarkko Nieminen 4-6, 6-4, 6-3
    S Nicolas Almagro 7-6(2), 6-3
    W Tommy Robredo 6-4, 6-4, 6-0

    # Nadal trailed *1:4 in the 2nd set against Nieminen
