   Unexpected quarter-final on Rod Laver Arena at night session, Edberg vs. Becker/Muster could be anticipated when the tournament started, but the Dutchman eliminated Muster and P.McEnroe who had defeated Becker… Krickstein [45] was serving better than ever (finished the match with his 22nd ace, career-high). Actually he should have won it in straight sets. In the 3rd set he led 4:2* (30/0), had a double mini-match point at 5-all – Eltingh got four straight points with volley winners. For the Dutchman [24] that loss initiated his 9-match losing streak!
